BAT FOR LASHES ~ July 25th @ Knitting Factory
Bat for Lashes is the nom de plume of a woman from Brighton, England named Natasha Khan, a multi-instrumentalist and visual artist who’s created a tiny world all her own on her debut, Fur and Gold, which is coming out on Caroline Records on July 31st. The record is full of dark, lush, beautiful songs all anchored by her incredible voice. A mixture of autoharps, marching band drums, desert guitar, ballet school piano, harpsichord, hand claps and more, Fur and Gold shapes otherworldly dream fragments of sound into some of the most blissfully gorgeous songs you’ll hear this year. It’s a record swathed in glitter, feathers, insanely catchy melodies and music that sounds as if it’s blooming in a deep forest on a damp spring evening. Live, Natasha is joined by three amazing female musicians that make up the exceptional Fur and Gold touring band. They’re adorned with warrior face paint and sparkly headbands on a stage piled with autoharps, violins, jingle bells, electric guitars and more. They all switch between instruments, creating a rich, varied sound for each song that never fails to astound upon hearing it. See the multi-talented Ms. Khan play now so you can say “I saw Bat for Lashes way back when.”
