Rilo Kiley – “Under the Blacklight” : Sentimentalist Magazine Review
Jenny Lewis’ LA sass and seductive country twang returns with Under the Blacklight, which finds her trend-setting gang playing it as loose as a summertime BBQ, and as sweet as ambrosia salad. Lead single “The Moneymaker” with its smooth, confident strut will keep hearts racing long after the song concludes. (As will its porn star-heavy video). “Breakin’ Up” is perhaps the most delectable relationship-ending celebration of the year with its bubble-gum keyboards, and the ghosts of Heart and Fleetwood Mac loom large on “Dreamworld” and “The Angels Hung Around,” but not as a spectral haunts—more like the guardian saints you will bow to once you “Give a Little Love” and sidle up to your new number one crush. –Carrie Alison
