┬áSurprise, surprise, or maybe not so much, but Mercury Prize darlings Klaxons won’t be the head honchos going into the annual Q Awards on October 8 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Love was spread to four massive bands tonight as the nominations were announced, and when the smoke cleared, the Kaiser Chiefs, the Killers, Arctic Monkeys and Muse were tied at three nods each in major categories. Klaxons were relegated to the Best New Act category, which was taken last year by jazzy R&B star Corinne Bailey Rae. The night’s big award, however should be interesting…Best Act In The World Today will go to one of the following: The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, Muse or U2.

Cherry Ghost, Kate Nash, Hard Fi, Athlete and Manic Street Preachers performed at the launch/nominations event.
