Since they first appeared with their stunning debut, Vehicles and Animals, Athlete have shown an interest in making big songs with big swells, but experimental jams and gentle acoustic ditties took up half the space. On Neighbourhood, the third release for the now well-known Brits, they fully embrace the anthemic style they’ve been heading for, trading away the innocent world-wonder of their early work for catchy guitar riffs and broader, more mature sounds. Though it seems they’ve grown up for good, Neighbourhood shows Athlete can still see value in a well-placed theremin. (Astralwerks) –Lavinia Wright
