John C. Reilly to tour as Dewey Cox
It’s news like this that belongs in an “Oh My God!” category by itself, but indeed it’s true - John C. Reilly will tour and perform as Dewey Cox, his character in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, (out December 21 in wide release) for lucky crowds in seven cities across the US this December. Kicking off December 5 at, appropriately enough, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Reilly will be joined by “scorching rock ensemble” The Hard Walkers. The “Cox Across America Tour” (hee hee) will climax at New York’s Knitting Factory on December 19. If you’ve seen Chicago and A Prarie Home Companion, (or hell even Talledega Nights) you know how talented our man Reilly is.
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, written by Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan, stars Reilly as Cox, an “up-and-down-and-up-again” rock star who “sleeps with 411 women, marries three times, has 22 kids and 14 stepkids, stars in his own ’70s TV variety show, collects friends ranging from Elvis to the Beatles to a chimp, and gets addicted to - and then kicks - every drug known to man… but despite it all, Cox grows into a national icon and eventually earns the love of a good woman - longtime backup singer Darlene (Jenna Fischer).”
Oh, and a little guy named Jack White plays Elvis. After the jump, Dewey Cox tour dates and ticket information.
Each of Dewey’s concerts will be preceded by special screenings of
“Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.” Tickets to the events will be made
available through local radio promotions in each of the markets where
Dewey and his band are performing. Tickets to these extraordinary
Dewey Cox events are being offered to members of the Dewey Cox Fan Club
(For information on all the benefits of Dewey’s fan club, please visit:
