Say what you will about the farcical aspects of the Grammy Awards, (seriously now, must an artist always win immediately after they perform? Suspense please, thanks!) the nominations always illuminate a slow news day with plenty of chuckles and incredulity; for us, that is, because we can’t necessarily speak for the artists involved. However, when Fergie, Akon, Linkin Park and others who had convened in Los Angeles finished announcing 2008′s Grammy hopefuls, it became clear that Mark Ronson had arrived at centerstage, as he received nods in three major categories: Producer of the Year (for his work with Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, and his own album, Version), Album of the Year (Winehouse’s Back in Black), and Record of the Year (for Winehouse’s “Rehab”). Other big nominees this year include Foo Fighters with five nods, and Feist and the White Stripes with four.

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 10th 2008.

  1. Cheers to Ronson.
