We last saw them play an intimate set at Williamburg’s cozy Soundfix and their charisma was almost too big and bright for the small room. At that time, we didn’t know how long the wait would be to hear the new stuff this super-talented band of Brightoners has been up to. This is where Ray Davies comes in. Well, not exactly, but his studio in North London is the titular “Konk” in question, as it was the site of the seven-week recording process.

On April 15, 2008 the Kooks will release their second album, Konk, on Astralwerks, and if the praise that surrounded their debut, 2006′s Inside In, Inside Out is anything to go by, our lads with the help of producer Tony Hoffer, are set to drop some jaws once again. Though the band are now in Los Angeles to complete final mixes on Konk, early song titles making the rounds are “‘See The Sun’, ‘Shine On’, ‘Do You Wanna (Make Love To Me)’, ‘Disappear’, ‘Lonely Cat’, ‘Sway’ and ‘Stormy Weather’.”
