Kingston, NY’s Counterfeit Disaster defies their precarious name on its eponymous EP by effortlessly living up to their collective pedigree and the standards fellow locals Coheed and Cambria and 3 laid out for them. Delving deep into Eagles-esque jams, the melodic sensibility of the 80s and modern hard rock, with chiming guitars courtesy of Kurt Brown, and Kenny Camacho’s impressive award-winning vox, these guys are just one A&R encounter away from a big-time rock radio career alongside Foo Fighters and Linkin Park. And I do mean career, because once a label rep hears “The Return,” not only will contracts be signed, but all that cha-ching-ing will be deafening. –Carrie Alison
