Pitchfork and Rough Trade Records made the official announcement that (the now-bearded) Jarvis Cocker‘s next solo album, Further Complications, will be released May 19th in the US and May 18th in the UK, both on Rough Trade. From what we heard of his latest material, such as songs like “I Told You Twice (Leftovers)”, “Angela”, “Caucasian Blues”, “Fuckingsong”, and the title track, during his performance last year at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, Cocker was born to rock.  It comes as no surprise, then, that while Cocker and band were in Chicago last year for the Pitchfork Music Festival, they stopped by to work out a few songs with veteran rocker Steve Albini, who will produce the album.

Though the tracklist is still being finalized, Further Complications promises to be a potboiler, packed with witty gems the likes of which only Cocker could muster.  He will be taking the band, and the show, on tour across Europe this summer.  The States may have to wait.
