On October 6, punk legends and all-around badasses The Slits will release their first album of new material in 25 years, Trapped Animal, via Narnack. The record will also coincide with the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut, Cut, and a book about the gals by Zoe Street Howe, Typical Girls? The Story of the Slits, due in September.
The first single off of Trapped Animal is “Ask Ma,” and will be serviced to radio and other outlets in August. Other key tracks on the album look to be “Pay Rent,” “Lazy Slam,” and the title track. Old fans will be glad to hear that original members Ari Up and Tessa Pollitt are back for Trapped Animal, and are joined by Hollie Cook (daughter of Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook), Anna Schlute and Adele Wilson.
