Infamous producer and DJ Paul Oakenfold, who’s not only remixed artists from Radiohead to Justin Timberlake and The Rolling Stones, is also credited as being the main catalyst of the dance music revolution that took hold of the UK in the late 1980’s and as the one who’s brought DJ sets to stadiums, via his opening slots for major pop acts such as U2.  As if to thank him for bringing dance music beyond the sweaty, grimy dance clubs and to the masses, none other than Madonna, who always has a knack for scouting out the world’s best producers, recruited Oakenfold to produce new material for her forthcoming greatest hits album, to be released sometime in Sept 2009. “Cutting edge sounds combined with classic Madonna,” says Oakenfold of the new songs.

Oakenfold is also set to embark on a 25-country world tour this summer, which includes opening for Madonna on all of her “Sticky & Sweet” UK and European dates.

In summer of 2008, Oakenfold began a weekly residency at the Palms Hotel & Casino called “Perfecto Vegas.”  Conceived by the Maloof brothers and their nightlife team in conjunction with Oakenfold himself, “Perfecto Vegas” has brought a fabulous, Ibizan-styled club element to one of the hippest places in Vegas.

To commemorate the ongoing success of the night, Thrive Records will release Perfecto Vegas on July 14th.  This double CD set consists of 21 exclusive tracks, picked and mixed by Oakenfold.   The set focuses on the less pop leaning, “classic Oakenfold” sound that fans have been craving since his Grammy-nominated 2004 release, Creamfields.

Along with an extensive tour with Madonna, Oakenfold will also co-headline such major summer festival dates as Wireless in the UK, Red Rocks and the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Oakenfold continues to work on his new original studio album, Pop Killer, which will be released in 2010. The project already features collaborations with The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, and Ce-Lo.  Perfecto Vegas is available nationwide in stores and online July 14th 2009.
