Silversun Pickups to Kick Off Major Headlining Tour of North America
California’s Silversun Pickups have had a busy week and it’s about to get even crazier. Not only have they just performed hit single “Panic Switch” on the Late Show With David Letterman while in New York this week, the band will also share a can’t-miss bill with Elbow, Echo and the Bunnymen and Coldplay as part of the Sunday roster of All Points West in Jersey City. The big news, however, is that Brian Aubert and the gang will kick off a massive North American headlining tour the very next day, Monday August 3rd, in Baltimore, MD.
Wolfmother Opening for The Killers; “Cosmic Egg” out in October
The release of their eagerly awaited psych-rock opus Cosmic Egg is still a few months off (October 13th, to be exact), but rabid Wolfmother fans won’t have to wait too long to see the award-winning Aussie quartet preview new songs including “Back Round”, as the band has announced that they will support The Killers on the road for a string of dates in North America beginning August 31st at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.
Phoenix Maps Fall Tour
With one of the most critically acclaimed rock albums of the year under their belt with Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, Paris-based quartet Phoenix will hit the road for a victory run on September 13th with a performance at Denver’s Monolith Festival at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and stay out until October 2nd where they’ll wrap the trek at Zilker Park for Austin City Limits.

Decemberists Confirm “Short Fazed Hovel” Fall Tour Dates
Few albums this year have garnered the heaps of praise that the Decemberists’ latest release, Hazards of Love, has received since its bow earlier this Spring. Not surprising for Colin Meloy and crew, of course. Today the band confirmed the itinerary for their “A Short Fazed Hovel” tour set to begin September 20 in Burlington, Vermont, with presales starting as early as today.
Arctic Monkeys to Perform Songs From New Album Online 7/30
On Thursday, July 30, Arctic Monkeys will perform songs from their upcoming third album Humbug including, presumably, new single “Crying Lightning,” online at 4:00pm EST on their official website. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis to Release Collaborative Retrospective
Together, they’ve created some of the most haunting soundtracks and cinematic scores in recent memory (The Proposition), anyone? And now on September 22nd via Mute, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis will release a retrospective of sorts of the efforts called White Lunar, a two CD set comprised of their soundtrack compositions, a selection of film scores, rare and previously unreleased material.
Friendly Fires Sign on to NYLON’s Winter Music Tour, Will Perform on Kimmel in August
Big news out of the Friendly Fires camp this week. First came the announcement that the English group’s debut record was nominated for a 2009 Mercury Prize, and now they are set to jump on to NYLON’s inaugural Winter Music Tour in mid-November. Full bill and routing of the tour is still being confirmed at press time.
Monsters of Folk Plot Fall Tour, Will Donate to Local Charities
Monsters of Folk, the big new side project with Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and She & Him’s M. Ward, have just confirmed a fall tour beginning October 13 in Vancouver, that will run through November 22 in Antwerp, Belgium.
