The Dead Weather press juggernaut rolleth forward today on the heels of the announcement of the Jonathan Glazer-directed short film for the group’s new single, “Treat Me Like Your Mother” set to premiere on Cinemax at 9:55pm on July 11, with continuous rotation for the following five weeks on all Cinemax-branded channels. The short is scheduled to debut on the U.K’s Channel 4 on July 13th at 00:10.
Of the film, Jack White has said, “It was overwhelmingly electric working with Jonathan Glazer on this project, which feels more short film than video. I’ve never felt an intensity like I did on the set of this shoot. Absolutely violent, explosive, and poetic.”
The unsettling teaser trailer (available here) shows White walking briskly across a barren field holding a shotgun with the caption, “And they say romance is dead.” New visuals will be shown on the microsite leading up to the film’s premiere.
“Treat Me Like Your Mother” is the second single off of the Dead Weather’s debut album, Horehound, out July 14 on White’s own Third Man Records.
