The Lebowski Fest, now in its eighth year, rolled into New York City this week. Following on from the movie screening at Terminal 5 Tuesday night, your intrepid reporter paid the bowling party at Lucky Strike (42nd St. & 11th ave) a visit last night. The White Russian’s and oat sodas were flowing, the hardcore were testing their skills against fellow “achievers” in the annual quiz, and there was bowling. Lots and lots of bowling. Now, I have to hold my hands up and admit that I am not quite as initiated into the cult of this Coen brother’s creation as I might have been, so some of the costumes needed explanations (did I mention there were costumes?!). Oh yes, most people made the effort, and so almost every character (The Dude, Walter, Maude, of course), however bit part, was present. Shout out to the guy who came dressed as the bath. I’m off to practice my bowling technique for next year. Brooklyn “achievers” abide tonight at the recently opened Brooklyn Bowl. –Andrea D’Alessandro
