FADER Fort Sweats Our Lives Out of Us at the Ace Hotel, CMJ Day 5, 10.24.09

Where to begin with the sweat, the impossibly loud techno, pushy hipsters and the free SoCo? Hard to complain as it was a (free) shelter from the rain, and even harder to begrudge the free booze after a week of late nights and ringing ears at rock clubs across New York City.

AAM Party for CMJ 2009 at Music Hall of Williamsburg, 10.24.09

Mellow was the vibe for the AAM CMJ day party at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday, when free veggie dogs were set out in the cool basement of the venue and Radiohead and Beatles vinyls were up for raffle. Music fans mingled, escaping the overcast weather for a day of Beatles Rock Band on the downstairs TVs, free food and good tunes.

The XX, Let’s Wrestle and Pete & the Pirates Rock CMJ Day 2, 10.21.09

The line for the highly ballyhooed buzz band of this year’s CMJ festival, The xx, at the Mercury Lounge, wrapped around the corner of Houston and Ludlow on Wednesday night. At one point the door minders only allowed badge-holders and guestlisters entry, much to the dismay of hopeful attendees who had waited on line for over an hour.
