Merge Records has just announced that Sweden’s upbeat Shout Out Louds will release their latest album, Work, on February 23, 2010, which is the band’s third album and second for Merge. Lucky for fans, the band has already made the song “Walls” available for free download at this link.

If that’s not enough, the video for “Walls” can also be previewed here.

After a year of touring behind their acclaimed second record, Our Ill Wills, the band decided to take a break and do some traveling on their own, with singer/main songwriter Adam Olenius moving to Melbourne, Australia, keyboard/vocalist Bebban Stenborg to Los Angeles, and drummer Eric Edman, bassist Ted Malmros and guitarist Carl von Arbin moving back to Stockholm. Olenius wrote many of the new, more stripped-down and organic songs in his new homebase of Australia using simple instruments: a small synthesizer, an acoustic guitar and garageband on his laptop. He sent the songs out to the band members who then offered their input and began the process of creating Work.

Shout Out Louds will be playing a special album-release show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn on March 1st, and then will tour the States and beyond from that point on.  Dates will be announced soon.
