Tireless sonic scientists Minus the Bear have just inked a deal with Dangerbird Records to release their upcoming effort, OMNI, on May 4th, 2010.

Produced by Joe Chiccarelli (who is currently helming the new Strokes album), OMNI “is a riveting new album of rich soundscapes” that will explore “erotic themes and fascinating tales of human sexual relationships.” Lead single “My Time” will feature “widescreen synth rock,” while other album standouts “The Thief,” “Animal Backwards” and “Hold Me Down, Omni,” will serve as further evidence that this atmosphere-surfing band of instrumental misfits have been in the lab with some serious mojo.

The Seattle quintet is also set to hit the road on a six-week North American trek starting April 21st. A full tour announcement, along with the album’s tracklisting is expected shortly. –Carrie Alison
