LCD Soundsystem, otherwise known as James Murphy to his family and one of the foremost purveyors of mind-melting, holy-dunk-space-junk dance music, has just confirmed a May 18, 2010 release date for its as-yet-untitled third album on DFA/Virgin.

Recorded in Los Angeles (The Manshun) and DFA’s New York homebase, the new record was fully written and produced by Murphy, with additional mixing assistance by Dave Sardy on “Drunk Girls,” “Change,” “Hit” and “Somebody’s Calling Me.”

A world tour is confirmed to start on April 16 at Coachella, before it moves on to headlining and festival dates in the U.K. and Europe, along with other highly anticipated U.S. festival appearances at Sasquatch, Bonnaroo and Pitchfork.
