Fresh off the heels of a tour supporting Tegan and Sara, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Holly Miranda will kick off an East Coast headlining tour this week, starting out in Toronto and wrapping up with a show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on May 26. Following this will be a couple of shows at the Sydney Opera House in Australia as part of the Vivid LIVE Festival (curated by Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson).

Miranda’s most recent album, The Magician’s Private Library (XL Recordings), is her first proper release for a label (previously she made the DIY record High Above The City, which was sold at her acoustic shows). It’s a mellow and moody record, with Miranda’s sultry, bluesy vocals and a lush, atmospheric sound. The album was produced by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, recorded at his studio in New York and includes a guest appearance by Kyp Malone.
