Radiohead’s Philip Selway is set to release his debut solo effort, Familial, on August 31st via Nonesuch.

Partnering with producer and engineer Ian Davenport at Oxfordshire’s Courtyard Studios, Familial marks Selway’s debut in the lead singer-songwriter role, and brims with “sublimely fragile, haunting and heartfelt songs,” and little to no “traditional drumming.” Selway was also joined by an all-star cast of Lisa Germano, former Soul Coughing bassist Sebastian Steinberg, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Sansone for the Familial album sessions.

Album tracks “The Ties That Bind Us” and “The Witching Hour” were born several years ago out of Neil Finn’s 7 Worlds Collide charity project recording sessions in Auckland, originally in 2001 and later in 2008. “The Witching Hour” appears on the 7WC album The Sun Came Out, which was released in 2009.
