In 1995, an alt-rock tune called “Possum Kingdom” with the eerie refrain “Do you wanna diiiieeee?” was inescapable on popular radio format stations, as well as its unsettling video. The band, hailing from Fort Worth, TX, were called the Toadies, and the album, Rubberneck, was a success. Along the way, even Kelly Clarkson fell in love like the rest of us.

But then, disaster struck in 1998 when the band’s label, Interscope, decided to bury what was to be the eagerly anticipated sophomore effort, Feeler. In 2001, Hell Below/Stars Above was released, containing little of the original Feeler material. Months later the band broke up.

Reunited since 2006, the Toadies will finally release a re-recorded Feeler sometime this summer on Kirtland Records according to a promo video that was serviced to the media yesterday.
