Relentlessly delicious, the debut effort from California’s Best Coast is the ultimate elixir for what ails your warm-weather soul. Breezy, gritty and alive with endless sunkissed charm, Crazy For You is a perfectly distilled lo-fi nugget of heartsick boredom and Los Angeles in the late afternoon. Singer and songwriter Bethany Cosentino is a beguiling, lackadaisical charmer in the vein of Jenny Lewis (one of her idols) and Liz Phair with an enviable knack for coy and cutesy relationship melodrama. Hazy musings about absentee boyfriends and beloved cats populate the ’60s surf-rock tinged gems of Crazy For You, and repeated declarations of love and loneliness are the only specials on the intoxicating menu on this back porch. Which is well and good, because there are no other more addictive stoner beach-blanket boohoo jams than “Goodbye,” “I Want To,” “Honey” and “When I’m With You,” in recent memory, and I don’t ever want to come down.
