Of course, this selection of official showcases is by no means exhaustive and is not even representative of all of the showcases that the Sentimentalist staff had picked to go to. Let’s just agree to call these choices an editorial suggestion with a heavy use of the first person.
IAMSound kicks the week off right by presenting a bill at Santos that includes Salem, so my mind is already blown from all the excitement, although I’m starting to suspect it’s actually my general quality of life that may be responsible. Quoth the official blurb on the topic of headliner: “Their [IAmSound] CMJ showcase will feature headliners MEN, the remix/production project that began as an offshoot of electroclash pioneers Le Tigre.”
The show starts up around 8:30PM. $12/$14 or Badge.
Lefse Records presents their lineup at The Delancey, the partner I Guess I’m Floating writes: “Sometimes I still pinch myself to make sure I didn’t dream this lineup while sleeping, as it’s going to be one night of ridiculously great performances.” I’m going to be pinching you too, friend.

Village Voice and Red Eye present a day party at Bowery Electric.
Red Eye says: “…featuring none other than our pal, role model, and foul-mouthed hero, Marnie Stern, local Magnetic Fields acolytes Hooray for Earth, Calibro 35,Heidi Spencer, PVT, Alessi’s Ark, Darren Hanlon, and one pair of very special unannounced guests, whose names we cannot reveal yet, on pain of death. (We can vouch for the fact that they are actually special though.)”
There is a secret super awesome guest at noon, I’m guessing Rachel Ray with omelettes (probably not though).
The show starts at 12PM. Free.
Friday night Windish agency will lock their offices and pimp-out the electro like artists on their roster at Webster Hall and Studio at Webster Hall (where some of them already hold down residencies) located at 125 E11th st &4th Ave in Manhattan. This is basically the Boys + Girls and Trash parties all rolled up into one and fed super secret redbull MDMA (which is just redbull mixed with MDMA). So Super Booty Shaking Times.
The show start at 10PM. ADV $15/$30, waiting for a response on whether CMJ badges get a discount or if this is one of those Anti-CMJ CMJ events.

Famous Friends teams up with AM Only for the Saturday performance to see if they can completely exhaust VDRK and Free Magic by placing them both as the openers and closers, although at 8 hours long this show is just a normal work day. Musicians are just working stiffs with longer set-up times.
This is all happening at Le Poisson Rouge (you should already notice the pattern that a most official CMJ shows take place in Manhattan) at 158 Bleeker st., Manhattan.
This show starts at 8PM and goes until closing time. $5/Badge.
