The latest release from celebrated Austin duo Ghostland Observatory is Codename: Rondo, released last week via Trashy Moped/Red. A bit of a departure from earlier material, the band’s fourth album puts a refreshing spin on several decades’ worth of influences and a variety of genres, from T. Rex and Newcleus to Kraftwerk and Daft Punk. And it certainly packs a groove, with the glam rockin’ lead track “Glitter,” and the pop hooks and Moroder-style disco synths of “Miracles” and the electro-funk of “Give Me the Beat” and “Body Shop.”

In support of the new release, the band, singer/guitarist Aaron Behrens and drummer/keyboardist/producer Thomas Ross Turner, has just embarked on the last leg of an extensive U.S. tour that will include a stop at New York’s Terminal 5 in mid-December.
