The enigmatic, London-based Anika will be returning to North America this September for her long-awaited tour, including sets at the Portishead-curated All Tomorrows Parties in Asbury Park, NJ and MoogFest in Asheville, NC.

Anika’s self-titled debut album, out on Stones Throw/Invada, is a striking, stark series of songs built upon a music written with the help of Geoff Barrow of Portishead and the members of Beak>.

Her first official video “No One’s There”, directed by John Minton, which premiered on XlR8R and Pitchfork, can be seen here. Check out the stunning black and white shots of English urban decay, back beats that remind us of the darkest Public Image Ltd. and Bauhaus, and Anika’s unique speak/sing style of vocals that makes it all so beautifully bleak.
