Drive. Shoot. Kiss. Thrill. The latest film to star Ryan Gosling as a Hollywood stunt driver includes a love story, a sweet kid in danger, and ends in a heist gone wrong. Leave it to Gosling to turn a could-have-been-cardboard tough guy character into a nearly mythic, complex role. Albert Brooks, Ron Perlman, Carey Mulligan and Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks also star, and the film is directed by award-winner Nicholas Winding Refn.
The Drive soundtrack proves to pack as much primal pop intrigue as the plot itself, mixing ethereal and moody tracks, including an original score by Cliff Martinez, (once a drummer for Lydia Lunch, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Captain Beefheart and composer of scores for Wicker Park, Wonderland and Pump Up The Volume), amongst others. The 80′s-tinged, electro pop album features songs by Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx (CSS), The Chromatics, Desire, College featuring Electric Youth and Riziero Ortolani featuring Katyna Ranieri.
Lakeshore Records will release the Drive Original Motion Picture Soundtrack in stores on September 13, 2011 in conjunction with the release of the film by FilmDistrict on September 16th. The soundtrack will also be available digitally on September 6.
