CREEP’s latest video for “Animals” (feat. Holly Miranda) breathes desperation into the urban condition.  Their signature staccato snare & choral violin production lends agreeably to the industrial isolationist backdrop.  It feels like Berlin, but Lauren Dillard (of CREEP) instructed that it was shot in a particularly empty Los Angeles, reminiscent of the Tokyo depicted in Tarkovsky’s Solaris.

Holly Miranda’s cadaver-like appearance (even while wearing a highly-structured, extreme-cowl neck, hooded something), as well as the two other leads’ 90′s bondage-inspired styling, lend closely to the idea of human captivity—but of course it is humans, and not animals, who cage.  Despite the seemingly manifestable negative space, there is a tragic longing for something other than the contemporary human experience.
