Youth Lagoon, known to his friends as Trevor Powers, has just premiered a new video for his song “July”, directed by Tyler T Williams. The song is from Youth Lagoon’s album, The Year of Hibernation, released last September via Fat Possum Records.

The video, like the album, explores the artist’s feelings of anxiety as well as bottled up memories, conjuring melancholic, dreamy visions.

It seems the darker layers of Powers’ mind bring out the most creative side. He claims, “I don’t think I could ever write a completely happy album. It’s not that I’m not a happy person, but I just have too many things in my mind that haunt me.”
