Marie Claire takes out an ad proclaiming “Elizaveta stole my heart,” amongst their ads that they are actually getting paid for, so why not give a listen.  The upcoming album is more in line with my fantasy of what tween girls see as beauty, anyway.  Not only is she re-inventing tween girl standards, she’s also re-inventing Burt Bacharach with her cover of “What The World Needs Now Is Love” (below). In her heart-melting vocal purity, she makes me wonder if she actually believes these words.  The playfulness of her tinkering, her meddling, with this “classic” makes me hope that she’s a nihilist at heart, going around in the drag of Adele or Florence (as in the Machine).

Recently signed to Universal Republic, she’s moving forward with her release of Beatrix Runs on January 24th, with an East Coast Tour to follow:

1.24.2012 – Cafe 939 at Berklee, Boston, MA
1.25.2012 – Joe’s Pub, New York, NY
1.27.2012  - Jammin’ Java, Vienna, VA
1.28.2012 – Tin Angel, Philadelphia, PA
