Shadowed only by Lena Dunham’s accidentally terroristic and banal portrayals of young Americans, Teengirl Fantasy has become the second-most culturally relevant name consistently associated with Oberlin.  I’ve never known them to talk during performances, but I don’t think their intentions mount to even half of those provided by the dimwitted mumble-core-ster, herself, and because of that they can actually be heard.

Teengirl’s continuing to move forward, releasing a second album, ‘Tracer,’ due out August 21.  The popularity they saw at SXSW this past Spring certainly indicated an upcoming tour, though I do hope they put some more energy into the performance end of their shows.  Not quite Daft Punk, I would definitely expect to see some psychadelic-electro lighting setups and maybe the introduction of some sort of clothing they wouldn’t necessarily wear in their living rooms.
