It’s the evening before Pussy Riot’s final verdict so let’s show our solidarity for the three detained women in Moscow: Maria Alekhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Ekaterina Samucevich of Pussy Riot. Tonight, Thursday, August 16th at 7:30pm, the Moscow trio’s courtroom statements will be read for the public, for free, in the aptly named Liberty Hall at NYC’s Ace Hotel by supporters of the Free Pussy Riot movement, including Chloe Sevigny, Eileen Myles, Karen Finley, Johanna Fateman, Mx Justin Vivian Bond and more.

The verdict for the Pussy Riot trial will be stated on Friday, August 17 at 3pm Moscow Time, or 8pm EST in the US. There will also be a march and rally on Friday, which will take place outside the Russian Consulate and later on Times Square.

A recent chat about Pussy Riot and the Russian mainstream thought pattern:
Russian friend: their youtube comment page is interesting
half Russian
lots of negative comments
me: against Pussy Riot?
Russian friend: basically the softest gist is “I was for the girls, but now all these fags and lezbos and freaks joined up and I’m not into that”
and a LOT of anti-western commentary
me: of course, too weird for them.
Russian friend: which is true always
basically stay out of my country nationalism is really strong
obviously the main news there are painting this very simply as some western weird bullshit
so it’s weird
and it’s western
and thus not ours
and stop being a fag
so that argument for an average Russian is blunt and convincing
Hey maybe I didn’t want them to go to jail
but now all these Clinton-paid people are invading my country
