Tonight if you’re in New York you’re looking outside and saying to yourself, I don’t know how people can possibly stay awake in places like London or Seattle (the answer is: with drugs) because you just want to curl somewhere with a warm bottle of Cabernet and a blanket. You could go check out the opening day of the DUMBO Arts Festival, but having been around on opening night for the last 3 years I can share that it’s usually half finished and more of a preview night for friends rather than all is up and running, this year they’re getting bigger though. You’d also stumble around DUMBO at night (coincidentally Dumbo At Night is the name of my funk album used for elephant fertilization, it’s selling really well, thank you) slipping and sliding and trying to open and close your umbrella.

Or you could just stay in and make Tarte Tatin. Let me know how that goes for you.

Saturday day is the whole DUMBO Arts Festival for real. Don’t even plan anything, just go take the Ferry (or sigh the subway I guess) to DUMBO find Front St and Washington St and then just start walking around, gawking at things, taking your cute instagrams.

Saturday night the insane London based producers L-Vis 1990 and Bok  Bok who formed Night Slugs are bringing their flavour to the  S!CK party. Pictureplane is third one down on the lineup, this is insane! This will be insane. Extra subwoofers for you woof woofs. Check out the excellent flyer. Checked out? Go get your tickets.

Ok, let’s say you’re not in the mood for a warehouse rager on a Saturday night, that’s fine I feel you, I haven’t been outside myself in 3 years, you should try a bunch of baby steps to get over your agoraphobia and see our darlings Beacon play at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. It’s going to be a sweet gig, they share the stage with the School of Seven Bells and everyone will be lovely.

Another suggestion is Bushwig, that’s a whole bunch of Bushwick transplants wearing wigs or something, didn’t read too much into it. Oh I see it’s the first annual Bushwick drag festival, and it’s at the Secret Project Robot gallery and chill-wave space. Also it has over 1000 attendees on Facebook, so this will be a shock for you at first, having not seen humans in however long you’ve been sequestered inside.

On Sunday you’ll finish the rest of that Tarte Tatin which I hope turned out a success and then maybe check out the last day this year of the Dekalb Market (oh look Dinowalrus and Monogold are playing live music and Beacon are DJing, these guys are blowing up, they prob have one cellphone just for facebook). Go there.  Get some trinkets. Eat some artisinal hot dogs. Whatever you hipster banker DJ gardeners are into.
