Dramatically lit in a darkened, serious space, and shown against draped muslin, Suzanne Rae’s fall/winter 2013 collection was stark and clean, with robe-like, unembelished coats in winter whites, cozy knitwear (co-designed with local Lindsay Degan), and minimal silk gowns with modest collars and cowls. For this collection, Rae was inspired by the selfless nature of the best kind of missionaries, nuns and priests, (perhaps there are a few “good” ones left). The collection, with minimal accessories like knitted turbans and infinity scarves on some models, also had a vaguely desert princess air.
